Getting hit with the car is not unusual. Many are simple sheet metal impacts that are resolved between drivers with a simple accident friendly report , a system that has greatly streamlined claims resolution. Today you can do a friendly part on paper and through a mobile app. But, do you know how to fill out a friendly accident report ? Are you clear about what information your insurance will need to process the claim? Okay, let’s go over it.

Knowing how to make a friendly party is important, because it is very likely that throughout your life as a driver you will find yourself having to fill out one of these documents. Think that a year there are more than 11 million traffic accidents in our country, of which about 2 million are sheet metal blows and minor accidents that are usually resolved with a friendly party.

Although perhaps it is convenient to remember what the accident-friendly part really is to then go on to develop how this important document is complemented for car insurance and its policyholders.

The friendly accident report or statement

The friendly part or friendly declaration of accidents is a procedure that, through a document or an online application, allows to determine in an agile and friendly way the responsibility of a claim and to process subsequent compensation or repairs in the shortest possible time.

With the friendly accident declaration, once it is correctly completed, the drivers involved in the incident only have to contact their company with this document to process compensation.

As the assessment of the damage of the damaged vehicle is carried out by your insurer, the process is accelerated: the insurance takes care of the repair and determines the responsibility for the accident, to then understand with the insurance blog of the other car and compensate the expenses, depending on of the responsibility of each insured.

It is an idea from the last century, but it has worked very well. It was designed in 1972 and has been used in Spain since 1987. And, although new technologies have been incorporated with the processing of the online friendly part (through mobile applications), the dynamics have not changed much in all these years.

How to fill in the accident report

For this system to work properly, it is important to carry out the procedure properly. We are going to see how the accident report is filled in, for this we will have to take into account the following:

The insurance of the cars involved must be in force and the license plates of the insured vehicles must match those that have suffered the accident and are reflected in the document.

Also, keep in mind that this is a part for minor accidents and sheet metal knocks. If there is personal injury, the friendly declaration is not the best way to report the accident . If someone is injured in the accident, you should call the local or municipal police, or the Civil Traffic Guard to make a report.

Nor will you be able to make a friendly statement if one of the drivers involved is missing at the scene of the accident. Remember that the document must be signed by both.

Fill out the friendly accident declaration, step by step

Taking these indications into account, you can now fill out the friendly accident declaration. This is how the accident report is done, step by step:

Date and place of the incident

The first thing to enter in the report is the time and day of the accident, as well as the place where it occurred, indicating the street or crossroads and the town where it occurred or the kilometer and road of the event.

Drivers and insurance data

Obviously, it is essential to indicate the data of the insured drivers, names and surnames, license date, … and the data of the insurance company, policy number, validity of the policy, insurance agent or broker of the same, and the data of this, contact number, address …

Damage caused

We must indicate the damage suffered by the cars involved in the accident and if there has been any element of the public road that has also suffered damage.

Witnesses to the accident

There is a section within the document that is assigned to include witnesses that will help to better recreate the accident, if there were any, since many of the people who see an accident do not want to know anything “so as not to have to take part”.

Car data and accident representation

Now we will fill in the data of the cars, make, model, version, registration without erasures or erasures so that there are no errors or misunderstandings in the companies’ procedures after the presentation of the parts.

In the images drawn of several vehicles, motorcycle, car or truck, we will show with an arrow the place where each vehicle has been hit, and in the next section we will write the damages suffered, in addition to indicating the circumstances such as the accident occurred, marking with one or more “X” options that reflect the circumstances that caused the loss.

The accident friendly part leaves us a space where we can draw the vehicles and their directions, how they have hit and where, the existing road signs, to show the accident more clearly.

Signing of the friendly declaration

Once all this has been done, all that remains is to sign the part for each of those involved in the accident, assuming with this gesture everything expressed in the friendly accident report.

Once completed and signed and with each of those involved with their copy, nothing written and marked should be modified, as the insurance companies will reject what is indicated in the part.

With your copy you must report to your company or manage the accident through the insurance broker. We will be delighted to help you.

Recommendations for filling in the accident report

As we have seen, filling out a friendly accident report is very simple. In any case, these recommendations may be useful to you so that the procedure is done correctly:

  • Write clearly : fill the data with capital letters
  • Fill in all the possible data and do it carefully so as  not to confuse the data  of vehicle A (column with blue background) with those of B (column with yellow background)
  • Take a good look at the  central column : it is the one that determines the circumstances of the accident.
  • If there are  witnesses to the accident , write down their phone number and address
  • If there are injured or more vehicles involved , fill in the corresponding section. However, as we already indicated, in the event of personal injury, it is best for the police to report the accident .

And remember that this system only works with vehicles that have mandatory insurance and that, in order to apply it, the damage must have been caused by a direct collision between two vehicles.
